Burrell Scenic Showmans ‘Victory’

We are delighted to have been selected by the Thursford Collection to return the Burrell Scenic Showmans ‘Victory’ to steam. This will involve thorough boiler inspection, new tubes, the replacement of some stays and rivets, full mechanical overhaul of steam components, new front tyres and any other work required.

Foden OG

The opportunity to acquire this well known and incredibly special Foden came up due to the then owners worries about the cab. What makes this vehicle so special is it completely original and untouched appearance. We are in the process of building a new cab whilst retaining all the original panels and working via various processes to age the new areas of paint so that with a bit of luck, nobody will know its been touched.

ERF Brewery Dray

The restoration of this cracking little ERF actually began as an enquiry to supply a cab. The job quickly grew and the entire lorry was delivered to our premises from its long term dry storage in the owners barn. Overall it was in decent order for its age but required complete disassembly. Several components needed replacement including the wings, cab, and trickiest of all the radiator grill and surround. Retaining as much originality as possible was the brief from the client, so much time was spent rebuilding the original windscreens, repairing little things like the numberplates, and sourcing the correct materials to complete the project. The completed vehicle was returned to the owners in 2021 following coach painting, signwriting and varnishing in our workshops.

ERF CI6 Showmans Tractor

A family project was the complete nut and bolt restoration of the sole surviving works built ERF Showmans Tractor. This involved the replacement of all the wooden frame of the body and cab whilst retaining the vast majority of the original aluminium skin.

Steam Cars

Our two steam cars (1899 Locomobile and 1925 Stanley) were purchased at auction in running order but were far from operable. An intensive programme of work over several years has bought both in to top condition. The Locomobile has twice completed the prestigious London to Brighton Veteran Car Run and the big Stanley is a dream for a Sunday afternoon pub cruise. We have also consulted on a Locosurrey and assisted the owner with getting it back into steam.

Sentinel DG Steam Wagon

Jamie contacted the McMullen Brewery about their long dormant Sentinel, and they agreed to let him bring it back to steam. This involved a new boiler, and various mechanical jobs. Following the completed work Jamie then operated the Sentinel for the following two years on behalf of the brewery covering many miles.

Aveling & Porter Steam Roller ‘William’

A longer term family project that involved full boiler rebuild and mechanical overhaul, now a regular sight on the East Anglian Steam Scene.
